Large wildfire uncovers dog fighting operation

TENNESSEE -- Firefighters battling a large wildfire in Hawkins County uncovered what they believe may be a dog fighting operation.


 

 

The flames began in Mooresburg, near Short Hill. Hawkins County deputies said when crew were fighting the flames Saturday night, the discovered about 20 dogs and 20 roosters near the fire.


Investigators said they believe dog fighting was involved because of bite marks and wounds on the animals.

Charvez Nelson Francisco of Knoxville was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals as well as cock and animal fighting.
