NEW ZEALAND -- A 71-year-old Motueka man is in hospital with serious injuries to his arms and one leg after he was attacked by a neighbour's dog.
The dog bit the man as he walked to the mailbox about 5pm, said Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter Tim Douglas-Clifford.
"He just walked out to get the paper and the dog attacked him,'' he said.
Ambulance crews and police attended the scene.
When the rescue helicopter arrived, the man had lost a lot of blood and was heavily bandaged, said Mr Douglas-Clifford.
A paramedic on board treated the man for serious limb injuries as he was airlifted to Nelson Hospital.
He was in a stable condition tonight.
The incident is being investigated by dog control, said police.
