Pit bull euthanized after attack

NORTH CAROLINA -- A pit bull was deemed dangerous and was euthanized after it attacked a 60-year-old woman Wednesday as she tried to [stop a dog attack] in the Alpine Woods community, according to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement transported the dog to Henderson County Animal Services following the attack.

There were no vaccination records associated with the dog, and its brain was sent to a state public health laboratory for testing.

The woman was bitten on her stomach and hand when she tried to [save] her dog [from] the pit bull, Capt. Frank Stout said.
