South Bend man charged in animal cruelty case

INDIANA -- A South Bend man is facing multiple charges of animal cruelty after police find three dogs dead outside his home.  Charges were filed Thursday after a months long investigation into 38-year-old Joseph Perry.

Joseph Perry

South Bend Animal Control was called out to a home on the 1100 block of S. Ironwood back in August for a report of "excessive animal waste."  When the officer arrived he says he found three Weimaraner puppies dead outside the home.

Reports say that one of the dogs had been decapitated.  The veterinarian that examined two of the dogs said they had been beaten with a baseball bat or club.

Perry is currently being held on $5,000 bond.
