Dog corraled after biting man in Mira Mesa

CALIFORNIA -- San Diego police and paramedics were called after a dog bit a 66-year-old man in one hand and leg in Mira Mesa Friday afternoon.

The man called 911 about 1:40 p.m. and said he was bleeding badly after a pit bull bit his hand and left thigh, police Lt. Andra Brown said.

The incident occurred on Pegasus Avenue near Gemini Avenue. The owner of the dog was reported to have put the animal in a car after the man was bitten, Brown said.

Paramedics took the man to a hospital with wounds that were not considered life-threatening, a fire dispatcher said.

The dog was impounded and put in quarantine at a county animal shelter, said Dan DeSousa, deputy director of the county Department of Animal Services.
