Woman injured in dog attack

ILLINOIS -- A 56-year-old woman was treated at Memorial Medical Center Tuesday after she was attacked by a dog near Lowell Avenue and Outer Park Drive.

The woman said she was walking her dog about 6:15 p.m. when a white and tan pit bull attacked her. It bit her left leg, leaving four puncture wounds, a Springfield police report said.

When asked to describe the dog to police, the woman said it looked like a “Jersey cow.”

Sangamon County Animal Control was called to the area, but they could not find the dog.
