2 pit bulls killed after attacking Bay Area police officers

CALIFORNIA -- Berkeley police officers have shot and killed two pit bulls attacking them during a special enforcement investigation.

One of the dogs bit an officer on the arm, and when the other dog tried to join in, the officers fired. A third pit bull also confronted police as they came in the door, but it was not shot.

The San Francisco Chronicle says the officers went to the Richmond home on Tuesday afternoon to serve a search warrant.

The officers are part of Berkeley's elite Special Enforcement Unit, which specializes in drug and vice cases.

Two people were arrested, but there are no details about those arrests.
