A spokeswoman for MAS says the employee was dealing with a jammed door in the kennel area when the dogs attacked.
A Kentucky Humane Society employee was also bitten while trying to help.
That person was treated and released from University Hospital.
"Thursday's incident is a reminder of how unpredictable any animal can be," said Justin Scally, Director of LMAS. "These incidents remind us that people in the animal care industry knowingly face these challenges and risks daily. We do everything possible to ensure safety."
Earlier this week, a dog that was housed at the Animal House Adoption Center for over three months, and that showed no previous signs of aggression, also bit an individual. That individual was treated and released.
