Richmond pit bull owner fined merely $250 in horrific death of beagle

VIRGINIA -- A Richmond pit bull owner will have to pay a $250 fine for failing to restrain his dogs when they attacked, mauled and ultimately killed a neighbor's beagle.

The beagle, Scout, was attacked and killed in November by a pair of pit bulls, which have since been euthanized.

The owner, Elizabeth Walker, received a citation for an unrestrained dog X 2, meaning both dogs are listed on the same ticket. This is a class 4 misdemeanor citation, and the judge handed down the maximum fine of $250.

The DeMarco family has since found a new puppy to love. The day after the trial they picked up a 8-week-old beagle puppy named Sparky.
