Travis Elementary School Locked Down for Loose Pit Bulls

TEXAS -- A parent at Travis Elementary School was attacked by a pit bull as she tried to get back to her car after dropping off her child.

The mother took off running towards the school to get someone's help, but the dog kept trying to bite her. The dog soon went after another parent and a child.

The campus was placed on lockdown as police were called to deal with the dogs.

An officer who showed up around 15 minutes later tried using pepper spray to push back a dog that jumped at him. Soon enough, a second pit bull came at officers. One officer drew his pistol and fired at the dogs, neither was hit.

Animal Control officers were able to round the loose dogs up in a nearby backyard on Whittier. One of the dogs has a cut to the mouth from biting at the Animal Control officer's equipment.

The city will now try and find out who the dogs belong to.
