Pit bull seized after reportedly biting boy

TEXAS -- Animal Control officers seized a female pit bull Thursday that reportedly bit a 12-year-old boy walking in the 3800 block of North Everglade Avenue.

The boy told officers that the dog bit him on the hip at about 3:50 p.m., and he had a visible wound, though investigators could not determine whether it was an actual bite, according to a news release from the Odessa Police Department, which oversees animal control.

The boy’s mother came to the scene and sought no medical treatment, the release stated. At the scene, the boy could be seen chatting with fellow preteens and walking around.

The pit bull’s owner was cited for dog at large and animal control officers took the animal for a 10-day quarantine, per protocol.

The owner pleaded with animal control officers, saying the pit bull “is like my daughter.”
