Two more pit bulls impounded; woman attacked remains at MCH in fair condition

TEXAS -- A 54-year-old woman attacked by six pit bulls while walking at 2 p.m. Monday in the 3700 block of West 10th Street remains in fair condition at Medical Center Hospital today, according to MCH officials.

Anna Marie Salcido told police today she was attacked by six pit bulls, not four, according to Odessa Police Department Sgt. Sherrie Carruth.

Salcido suffered injuries throughout her body and underwent surgery for her injuries, Carruth said.

The two additional pit bulls as well as the four other pit bulls were impounded and are now in quarantine at Animal Control and their health and fate have not been determined, Carruth said Wednesday.

The owner of the dogs, Joshua Moore, 17, was cited for no rabies shots, no license and having dogs at large, Carruth said.

Maurice Henderson, 41, was cited for interfering with a Humane officer, Carruth said.

Manager of Animal Control Joe Barreraz said the dogs will remain in quarantine and be monitored for 10 days.

Barreraz said it’s unknown what will happen to the dogs at that point because the investigation is still ongoing. At this point, he was not sure whether they will be tested for rabies.
