Teen severely injured in Revere dog attack

MASSACHUSETTS -- A 14-year-old boy was in “grave” condition last night after being attacked by two Rottweilers in Revere, authorities said.

The boy was apparently inside the fenced-in grounds of a construction company behind Northgate Plaza when he was set upon, a spokesman for Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

The boy was with a 12-year-old friend when he entered the construction yard and was attacked, Revere police said. The second boy called 911 about 5:40 p.m., police said.

“Upon their arrival, officers observed a 14-year-old male lying on the ground being mauled by two dogs,” police said.

“The child was secured in a fenced in area with (barbed) wire,” police said.

In order to get the dogs off the boy, police were forced to fire at least one gunshot. Police did not say if the dog was struck.

The teen was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition last night, police said.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston was on scene to tend to the dogs. A league spokesman said the two dogs were Rottweilers, and referred all other questions to police.
