IDAHO -- southwestern Idaho woman convicted of animal cruelty has been sentenced to 20 years of supervised probation. Magistrate Judge Jerold Lee also prohibited 57-year-old Sabrina Carmack from owning or residing in a home with animals, except for one dog.
The Idaho Press-Tribune reports Carmack was convicted in March after Canyon County animal control officers found several malnourished and neglected animals on her property. They included two ponies, two horses, six goats and five dogs.
Prosecuting Attorney Bryan Taylor said in a statement that Carmack disregarded the reverence for life and the compassion she should have had for the animals.
Carmack has prior convictions for failure to purchase canine licenses, canines running at large and kennel license violations.
In addition, she was charged but not convicted of animal cruelty in Ada County in 2007.
