On Wednesday, Big Fluffy Dog Rescue released a veterinary necropsy on Mila's body which proves otherwise.
According to the veterinarian's exam, Mila was starved to death, and not "euthanized" as has been repeatedly stated by shelter officials.
Volunteers with the rescue organizations have called the shelter facility out because dogs pulled from that "shelter" appear to have been starved while in the supposed care of the shelter employees.
Warren County officials tried to brush off the accusations by stating that the dogs pulled from the facility may have appeared "thin" because they were not fed on the day that they were transported to the rescue organization.
The official findings in Mila's necropsy support the rescue agency's allegations. Part of the report states:
“The most significant finding is the starvation which is the result of inadequate nutrition. There is no evidence of terminal infectious disease or malignant neoplasia that may cause the emaciation.
"Long periods of inadequate nutrition can have severe detrimental effects on the body including immune system impairment which is evident with the severe demodectic mange found in this dog; susceptibility to infections, prolonged gastric emptying and gastrointestinal transit times; and reduced cardiac output.
"There is no evidence of poisoning."
Mila, a husky mix, was supposed to be released to Big Fluffy Dog Rescue, but the Warren County Animal Shelter told the organization that she was euthanized because of severe mange. Findings in the necropsy have ruled out that Mila was euthanized.
The shelter's claims are completely contradictory to the veterinarian's findings.
Evidence collected by the rescue agency show that dogs in the care of this government run facility are being abused.
According to Big Fluffy Dog Rescue, all of the photos, video footage and veterinary reports have been turned over to state officials.
The rescue agency stated:
“This county needs to be investigated. I am not OK that a dog that starved to death, let alone while in the government's care. I am appalled at the incredible cruelty of it all."
Individuals who have become aware of this horrific situation want to know why a government run facility is allowed to get away with what appears to be animal cruelty.
