Ohio: Dog rescue owner Deb Rodgers ordered not to take in any dogs during animal cruelty case

OHIO -- Deb Rodgers, 52, the owner of Cares About Life Rescue was ordered on Friday by Hillsboro Municipal Court Judge David Mckenna not to accept any dogs into her rescue and to notify the dog warden the name and address of anyone who adopts a dog.

Rodgers was charged with four counts of second degree misdemeanor animal cruelty on Thursday after authorities searched her Zion Lane property in Hillsboro on Thursday afternoon.

According to wnewsj.com, the judge set a pre-trial date for May 24 and released Rodgers on her own recognizance.

The Timesgazette.com reported Rodgers also must submit to random inspections from the dog warden and report all donations weekly.

Of the 94 dogs discovered on the property, 15 dogs were removed from Rodgers’ care for alleged health and inadequate living conditions. Two dead dogs were also found on the property.

Rodgers denies all charges of animal cruelty.
