ARIZONA -- Two children are recovering after a pit bull bit them Wednesday afternoon, Buckeye police said.
The children were playing with the family dog in their backyard in the 100 block of Sixth Avenue West at about 5:40 p.m.
At some point, they attempted to pull a chew toy from the dog's mouth when the animal began biting them, said Buckeye police Lt. Jared Griffith.
One child suffered serious arm injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital. The other child received less serious bites, Griffith said.
Animal Control placed the pit bull in a temporary quarantine.
Buckeye police detectives are conducting an ongoing investigation.
