NEW MEXICO -- A large owl was rescued by firefighters Wednesday morning.
A Great Horned Owl was spotted at the top of a business sign at 3375 Bataan Memorial in Las Cruces.
The firefighters used an aerial ladder to reach the owl that was stuck on a piece of the sign that sticks out, said a fire official.
The owl was rescued without suffering any injuries.
Officials say the lack of rain may increase wildlife sightings.
If you spot wildlife roaming around, officials urge you not to engage with them and to contact the New Mexico Game and Fish at 575-532-2100 or central dispatch at 575-526-0795.
