5/29/13: Boo Boo the burned bear released back into Idaho woods

IDAHO -- An orphaned black bear cub burned in a wildfire last summer has been released back into the wild.

The bear, nicknamed 'Boo Boo,' was found in a burn area near the Corn Creek Boat Launch last August. The bear's story quickly went national.

The cub had second-degree burns on his paws. He was eventually taken to the Snodon Wildlife Sanctuary in McCall where Boo Boo spent nine months recovering.

The Idaho Humane Society (IHS) said Boo Boo was released into the woods in Central Idaho.

"Boo Boo’s new beginning as a wild bear is a fitting ending to a story that began with the compassion of firefighters and endured with concern from people across the country who supported his care at Snowdon," IHS said on its Facebook page.
