Loose dog Tased in Cedar Falls after neighbors, officer report threats

IOWA -- A police officer used a Taser on a loose dog which reportedly acted aggressively toward several neighbors early Saturday afternoon.

Police Chief Jeff Olson said officers received a call of a loose dog in the 2200 block of Parrish Street who had chased one individual, and a group of people.

An officer tried to make contact with the animal’s owners at its residence.

When the dog came around to the front of the house and similarly approached the officer in an aggressive manner, the officer Tased the animal. It yelped and went back in the house.

The dog, identified as a pit bull mix, was not on a leash and had slipped out the back door of the house, police said. No one was injured. Olson said the incident is still under investigation for a possible citation for allowing a dog to run at large.
