NORTH CAROLINA -- A baby deer was reunited with its mother Monday after being caught in a storm drain in north Raleigh.
The fawn appeared healthy as firefighters, neighbors and animal control rallied to pull it to safety. After running in circles, they finally bagged the baby deer.
For onlooker Amanda Bokesch and her husband, it was the understanding of the mother-child bond.
"I have a four week old and when I saw the mom I was like this deer has got to get its baby back," she said.
For 7-year-old Chase Brautman, the rescue may have helped him find his life's calling. "A fireman, a police officer or animal control," he said.
Once animal control released the fawn, it took off into the woods. The deer did not suffer any injuries.
