But this morning if were traveling on Bannerman Road, you may have gotten a glimpse of the 7 year-old llama.
Scooter escaped his enclosure late Friday night, according to its owner, Jack Conrad, who was unsure of the time the llama went missing.
“We looked for him late into the night,” he said. “And word eventually got out.”
Also looking for the animal was the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, said Sgt. Dawn Dennis, LCSO watch commander. They had started to get calls about the llama being spotted on the north side of town Friday night. But it wasn’t until this morning that, Scooter was seen on Bannerman Road.
“We chased him several times before we could finally catch him,” she said, explaining that the llama was tased, as it was the only way to subdue it.
“It was apparent that he was going to cause an accident,” she added. “We had to tase it. If it’s a hazard – which it was – we try our best to capture it and secure it until the owner can come and get it.”
Scooter is now back at home and is in good condition. As of yet, the owners have not been fined for the incident, but LSCO is writing a report, Dennis said.
