Naples Police arrest man for killing ducklings

FLORIDA -- A man is behind bars after trying to kill ducklings in a apartment complex earlier this week.

Police have charged 55-year-old Rolando Rives with eight counts of animal cruelty


On June 17, the Naples Police Department received a report of an animal cruelty.

Witnesses told police they observed a Hispanic male using a broom to intentionally kill eight ducklings and injure two others in the George Washington Carver Apartment Complex.

The [dead] ducklings were left on the property and in the roadway.

Officers were able to rescue two of the ducklings and take them to the Conservancy of Naples for treatment of injuries. Veterinarians at the Conservancy of Naples estimated that the ducklings were approximately two weeks old.
