NEW YORK -- State police say two pit bulls attacked their owner and two others Monday afternoon in Glen Spey.
Lt. Brian Shortall said Joseph Murray, 46, of 1132 Forestburgh Road, told troopers the dogs got loose just before 3:30 p.m. and went into the neighbor's yard.
When Murphy went to get them, one turned on him and bit him several times in the head, arm and neck. The second dog also was involved, and two people who live at Murphy's home were attacked.
Murphy said he stabbed the dogs to death.
He was taken to Orange Regional Medical Center where he was treated for bite wounds and released.
The other two were treated at Catskill Regional Medical Center. Murphy's injuries were more severe.
Shortall said an investigation revealed the dogs were appropriately cared for and there was no evidence of dog fighting activities. No charges were filed.
