St. Pete girl, 4, hospitalized after dog attack

FLORIDA -- Police say a 4-year-old girl was bitten in the face by a family dog Thursday night.

It happened at 3028 Yale Street North in St. Petersburg around 8:15 p.m. The girl was apparently playing in the house when one of her family's two dogs attacked her.

Her father, John Faucette, 37, ran to her rescue, grabbing her and fending off the dogs – a Labrador and pit-bull mix – with a painting easel.

When rescue crews arrived to treat the girl for a facial wound, they said the dogs were inside growling and barking.

The little girl had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. An animal control officer was able to capture the two dogs but said the dogs were still being very aggressive.
