OKLAHOMA -- A 3-year-old boy underwent surgery after he was bitten by a dog inside an apartment complex Wednesday night, police said.
About 8:30 p.m., Tulsa police were called to an apartment in the 8000 block of South Mingo Road to investigate a dog bite, police said.
Police said a toddler was sitting on the floor inside the apartment eating food near the animal.
The dog, a female rottweiler mix, bit the child on the left cheek while trying to take the food, police said.
The boy was taken to Saint Francis Hospital where he underwent surgery, police said. His condition is unknown.
The dog was taken by animal control and will be placed under rabies quarantine, police said.
The dog's owner is not expected to be charged, said police.
