Texas: Pair of eight-month-old pit bull puppies maul girl, 15, inflicting more than 100 wounds

TEXAS -- A pair of pit bull puppies turned on their teenage caretaker in northeast Harris County this week, leaving a 15-year-old girl with more than 100 puncture wounds after a merciless attack.

Kasandra Benavides was feeding the two 8-month-old dogs in her backyard, when her pets suddenly lunged and pinned her to the ground, as detailed by KHOU Ch. 11.

The puppies, which she raised since they were four weeks old, tore into her legs as she struggled to free herself.

After family members finally managed to pull the dogs away, Benavides was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital with bite wounds covering one leg and a number of slashes on the other.

Doctors expect a lengthy recovery before the girl can return to her feet.

TEEN'S FATHER SAYS PITS HAD NEVER SHOWN SIGNS OF AGGRESSION, BUT NEIGHBORS SAY THEY'D ALREADY SHOWN KILLER INSTINCT

Benavides' father tells reporters the dogs never had shown any signs of aggression... However, one nearby resident disagrees.

“Those two dogs killed the neighbor’s dog,” says an anonymous women, describing another recent attack that left one area shih tzu dead.

“We were all startled, and I was concerned for the safety our children."

Harris County's Veterinary Public Heath Department, has taken custody of the dogs, both of which have been placed in quarantine.
