Woman tries to help owner catch her pit bull; gets attacked instead

No good deed goes unpunished, as they say....

NORTH CAROLINA -- High Point police said a woman was bitten and injured after trying to catch a dog that got loose from its owner.

Police said a woman was walking a pit bull over the weekend near Long Street and West Lexington Avenue when it slipping out of its collar and escaped.

A woman in her car saw the dog running off and got out to help catch it, police said.

Police said the woman who was walking the dog told her not to help, saying she did not know how the dog would act around strangers.

The dog attacked the victim, biting her on her right arm and the lower part of both legs, police said.
The dog was caught and has been taken to the Guilford County Animal Shelter, officials said.

High Point Police Capt. Mike Kirk said the victim was taken to the hospital. It remains uncertain if she is still there.
