Bayonne boy, 4, bitten in face by family's pit bull

NEW JERSEY -- A 4-year-old Bayonne boy was bitten in the face last night when he tried to separate two family pit bulls that were fighting, police said.

Police responded to the 19th Street home around 9 p.m. and were told by the boy's mom that one of the dogs turned on the boy when the boy tried to stop the dogs from fighting.

The boy was taken to Jersey City Medical Center and treated for three lacerations on the right side of his cheek, police said.

Police say the pit bull that attacked the boy was not registered with the city and the Health Department is investigating the incident.
