AUSTRALIA -- A two-year-old boy bitten on the head in a dog attack involving three American bulldogs has been released from hospital.
The toddler and his mother were flown to Brisbane on Sunday after being attacked during a visit to a friend at Blackbutt, northwest of Brisbane.
A Royal Children's Hospital spokesman said the boy was discharged today after surgery on Sunday.
The boy's mother was treated in the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital after being bitten as she tried to rescue her son.
Local councillor Debra Palmer said council was due to put the three dogs down yesterday after the owner signed paperwork consenting to their destruction.
American Bulldogs were not banned in the South Burnett area but council would investigate the mauling and review its policy.
"It definitely would be looked at whether the dogs should be banned or not,'' Cr Palmer said.
