The warrant was issued on August 9 after David Hyde failed to appear at an arraignment for charges related to a June 3 biting incident involving at least one of the two pit bulls he owns.
That arraignment was scheduled for August 7 -- the same day Hyde's dogs attacked Marjorie Huffman in the area of E. Livingston Ave. and Roswell Dr. in East Columbus.
The 20 minute attack left Huffman with serious injuries, most of which were inflicted by Hyde's female pit bull.
"She just from nowhere came up and grabbed my arm, and she just went toward my feet, and I just started hitting her, and she just wouldn't let up," Huffman said. "She just kept coming and coming and coming."
Huffman's wounds required 86 stitches in her hands and feet, but would likely have been worse if not for the intervention of a passing driver.
"She pulled up behind it, and was using her car trying to get it out of the way, and block it so it couldn't get in," Huffman said.
Hyde's male pit bull was labeled a nuisance dog by county authorities after the June 3 incident, which led to filing of four charges against its owner, including failure to keep a dog confined and failure to vaccinate for rabies.
Hyde faces new, undisclosed charges in connection with the attack on Huffman. His dogs are currently in the possession of Franklin County Animal Control officers.
Huffman believes the attack she suffered might have prevented a greater tragedy from occurring in the future.
"Maybe this happening to me is going to keep some little kid from getting murdered," she said.
The dogs' fate will ultimately be decided by a Franklin County judge
