According to Franklin County Municipal Court records, Franklin County Animal Control filed charges against the pit bull owner, David Hyde, on July 3 for an animal related incident in June.
Wednesday afternoon, Columbus Police say a woman was near Hyde’s residence on East Livingston when she was attacked by the two pit bulls. She was taken to Grant Medical Center in stable condition.
During the attack, a police officer shot one of the dogs. It is still alive.
Hyde now faces charges for failure to keep a nuisance dog confined, hindering the capture of an animal, failure to vaccinate one of the dogs for rabies, and failure to register both of the dogs.
Hyde told ABC 6/FOX 28 that he is sorry about the attack and hopes the victim is recovering. He also hopes to be reunited with his two pets.
A judge will decide what will happen to the animals. After this incident, a spokesperson for Franklin County Animal Control said the animals must be registered as vicious dogs.
