INDIANA -- A Lafayette woman was in the hospital Sunday afternoon after police say she was attacked by a dog.
It happened shortly before 3p.m. in the 1600 block of North 13th Street. Witnesses said the woman was talking to two men at the door of the home.
The dog was there as well, jumping at the screen door. That is when he escaped and attacked the woman. Police said she was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Neighbors said they aren't surprise by what transpired today.
"It has tried to get to the mail man. It has tried to attack the neighbors next to us and it's ran loose a few times and they've been warned about the dog being loose because it's a pitbull," said Carolyn Crider, who witnessed the attack.
Police said Animal Control has been notified about the situation and the dog will be taken into a shelter, where he will be evaluated.
