OHIO -- An Erie man is scheduled to appear in court later this month for a preliminary hearing on charges in a dog attack on the city's west side in June.
Michael Jefferson, no age available, was scheduled to appear before Erie 3rd Ward District Judge Tom Carney this morning for a preliminary hearing on charges of recklessly endangering another person, cruelty to animals, failure to restrain and failure to have a dog license or required rabies vaccination. But the hearing was postponed, and will be held in two weeks, officials said in court.
Police charge that Jefferson incited his mix-breed dog to attack and kill a woman's kitten on her property in the 900 block of West 17th Street on June 23. The dog was held in quarantine for 30 days after the attack, police said.
