Arizona: Starving horses, goats, Chihuahuas seized from Jesus Torres' ranch

ARIZONA --  Several animals, including horses, ponies, goats and dogs were seized from an Arizona ranch Sunday afternoon and the owner is now facing animal cruelty charges.

Officials with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Animal Crimes Unit responded to a ranch in Morristown, Ariz., located between Wickenburg and Wittmann, Ariz., after receiving a complaint this week.

Animal Control Unit Officers seized ten horses and ponies, three goats, and four Chihuahuas from the property.

The horses were malnourished and their ribs were clearly visible showing lack of food, said MCSO.

Thirty-eight year old Jesus Torres was arrested and charged with 27 counts of animal abuse.

Torres will be sent to the Fourth Avenue Jail.

The horses and goats will be cared for by inmates at the Tent City Jail, according to Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Female inmates at the First Avenue Jail will care for the dogs.
