Dog bite suit filed over Grantfork incident

ILLINOIS -- A woman has filed suit against the owners of a dog that she claims attacked her minor son, causing him to sustain injuries to his right ear.

Dwana Rieke claims her son, Adam Rieke, was visiting defendants Daniel and Rebecca Ziegelbauer at their home at 4610 Elim Lane in Grantfork on Sept. 14, 2012, when the attack occurred.

“He was suddenly and violently attacked and bitten by the bull mastiff owned by Ziegelbauers,” the suit filed Sept. 9 in Madison County Circuit Court states.

The dog bit the top of his right ear and caused Adam Rieke’s ear to be torn and ripped, according to the complaint. In addition, Adam Rieke incurred medical costs for the nine stitches he received, the complaint says.

In her complaint, Dwana Rake is seeking damages of more than $50,000, she claims.

Heidi L. Leopold of St. Louis will be representing them.
