Having a fenced yard doesn't matter anymore when the dogs jump inside to kill your pets

VIRGINIA -- A woman living in the 100 block of Moore Ave., S.W., told Vienna police on Aug. 27 at 5:30 p.m. that a neighbor’s dog had jumped the fence that divided their two properties and attacked her dog.

The resident’s dog suffered severe injuries and could not be saved, police said.

A Vienna animal-control officer responded, spoke with the owner of the attacking dog and informed him that a hearing would be held to determine if his dog should be declared “dangerous.”

The officer also informed the dog owner that until the hearing, he would be required to confine the dog and secure it at all times when outside. The animal-control officer will follow up on this case, police said.
