Kansas City police rescue deer on 87th Street bridge

MISSOURI -- Kansas City police officers rescued an unlikely victim on Sunday.

A deer, desperate for help, was stuck on a rain-soaked 87th Street bridge and the rescue was all caught on tape.

When officers arrived, they thought the deer was injured and were going to have to shoot it. But, they quickly noticed the deer’s leg was stuck in a drainage hole.

"It looked like something was really wrong with her, but after that when she got up, she was totally spent, she had nothing left in her at all, she just stood next to me and I said ‘Okay, let's go,’ and just walked her like I would my dog," Officer Steven Sandusky said.

The deer was uninjured in the incident.
