Macon women charged with combined 36 counts of cruelty to animals

GEORGIA -- Two Macon women were charged with a combined 36 counts of cruelty to animals Thursday after police went to a house on Worsham Avenue to serve a warrant and discovered 18 malnourished dogs, according to a Macon police report.

Animal control officers were called to the house, and the officers fed dogs found in the front yard.



Tammy Stepp, 43, was at the house and told police the dogs had not been fed in days and that a man at the house trades the dogs for drugs, according to the report.

The dogs were seized by Bibb County Animal Welfare, according to the report.


Stepp and Susie Stepp, 30, also of Worsham Avenue, were each charged with 18 counts of cruelty to animals. Tammy Stepp was released on $1,520 bond later Thursday. Susie Stepp was still being held at the county jail on $1,520 bond Friday afternoon.
