MASSACHUSETTS -- A city officer shot and killed two dogs that were terrorizing a neighborhood early Saturday morning, police said.
Police were responding to an 8:30 a.m. complaint about two pit bull dogs that were unleashed, roaming the Belmont Avenue area and trying to attack residents, Police Sgt. Christopher Hitas said.
When two officers arrived and exited their cruiser, the two pit bulls tried to attack them. “One officer shot and killed both dogs,” Hitas said.
Officials for the Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control and Adoptive Center picked up the dogs.
Police are conducting an internal investigation into the shooting, Hitas said.
