NEW YORK -- A husband and wife who allowed two dozen animals to live in their feces-filled home along with their four young children pleaded guilty to animal cruelty and endangering the welfare of a child charges on Thursday.
Matthew Burkley, 37, and Amie Burkley, 36, were both charged with five counts of animal cruelty last January after Animal Control acted on a tip about the poor conditions at their home on Goodrich Road in Clarence Center.

Authorities say when they arrived at the home to investigate, some of the couple's grade-school age children were outside without any shoes or socks on.
The home was filled with feces from dozens of animals, including a small pig in a child's bedroom, six dogs, countless cats, guinea pigs, a tortoise, birds, rabbits, prairie dogs, and chickens.
There were more animals out in a barn, including 14 horses, three llamas, three goats, two cows and pigs. All of the animals in the barn were very emaciated. Investigators say there was only one-half bale of hay for the animals to eat.
Three dogs from the home had to be put down. One of them had no use of its back legs.
The Burkley's home has been declared unfit for human habitation. Their children were taken by CPS and released to the custody of a relative.
They will be sentenced in November.
