Yet another person who will suffer from the memories of seeing their beloved pet killed by a pit bull. |
The canine caused injuries so severe over a 15-minute assault they had no choice but to put the burro down Saturday evening.
“From the front door, I could see that Jack was in this corner over here, and the pit bull was hanging from his throat," Allen said. “He almost had his ear torn off, his legs were severely lacerated."
Except for calling and waiting for the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office to arrive, all they could do was sit and watch Jack suffer, Allen said.
“I was totally helpless, and my wife was helpless,” Allen said. “We could do anything but stand by and watch this."
The couple said marshals showed up twenty minutes after they called, and put the pit bull down.
Allen said he might as well have lost a son, he loved Jack so much. He named the friendly pet Jack Whitney, after his grandfather, a jockey, Allen said.
The dog’s owner refused to comment to 12 News.
[Well, he didn't actually "refuse to comment". He had a lot to say to the reporter, but it was mostly curse words and threats.]
"He was such a tiny little animal," Allen said. “"He used to try and race me in my chair...and he always loved trying to outrun me, and he could very easily."
Allen said he is furious the dog wasn’t on a leash.
[The video clip says he called Animal Control about the pit bull previously.]
"I don't think I will ever forget that image. I couldn't even sleep last night. I was up at four o'clock in the morning."
Typical prerequisites for owning a pit bull: thug mentality which includes blaming the victim, aggressive, anti-social behavior, previous criminal history |
[In the video, the reporter goes to the owner's trailer to ask him why his dog was running loose. The owner, predictably, tells him to "Get the f*** off his property". The pit bull owner was arrested on a public disturbance/disorderly conduct charge.]

Update to story: Steven Spearman, 26, was cited with one count of having a vicious dog at large, according to the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office. It was unclear when he was cited.
Two calls had been made to Spearman’s home in July. The first was about animals fighting on the property and the second was a potential animal abuse case in which no charges were cited, according to the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office.
Four legs, this is a tear jerker - I can't stop crying. Thanks for all these pictures and can I please borrow a picture of Jack. You tell the story so complete with your pictures and this story needs to be told!
ReplyDeletePlease re-post everything! I agree, people need to know about the piles of victims (humans and pets) which are continually piling up.
Deleteit's a never ending story. innocent peaceful animals savaged by these disgusting mutants. the sad and hideous reality of allowing dogs bred for fighting and baiting in out society.
ReplyDeleteNo says anything about the donkey attacking the owner numerous times biting and kicking him the was not loved I was neglected never feed only by neighborhood children. As usually the media blew things out of proportion again and talked to the suicidal manic next door and who has no kids at home or has been without 200 yards of the donkey, Raymond turner who is extremely anti law enforcement. People I am not condoning what the dog did but get the facts straight before you go off. Oh the white dog in the video assisting the pit bull belongs to the donkey owner
ReplyDeleteThe donkey in this sad story was not aggressive at all and the owner and the donkey were very close. The donkey clearly loved the man in the wheelchair. He was not starved either, buckeye bill is full of it. Everyone loved the mini donkey. The low life that had the dog was a drug dealer and want a be thug. In court the owner of the donkey kicked this punks ass. Today the pit bull owner resides in the county jail. Buckeye bill needs to get his facts straight.
