PENNSYLVANIA -- A 7-year-old dog bite victim is set to receive a $75,000 settlement after the Chester County Court of Common Pleas found in her favor Monday.
According to a release from her attorney, Thomas Newell, two Labrador retrievers harmed the girl while she was visiting her aunt’s house in April 2011.
The girl sustained wounds on her scalp, neck and shoulder and received 10 stitches for the injuries, according to a release. The girl did not need plastic surgery as a result of the incident.
According to Newell, the $75,000 settlement is the result of an eight-month litigation process against the dog owner “after her homeowners insurance company refused to make a reasonable settlement offer.”
The young girl will receive her money via a structured settlement annuity plan.
