United Kingdom: Horses attacked by out-of-control dog

UNITED KINGDOM -- A dog has attacked a couple of horses causing injuries serious enough to need veterinary treatment.

A black dog - believed to be a Staffordshire bull terrier - got into the sanctuary and attacked a Shetland pony called Jenny and a horse called Chispa.

There were fears the pony would have to be put down but she is now recovering from her ordeal.

Officers are trying to trace the owner of the dog who is described as a white man, 5ft 9ins tall, aged in his late 20s or early 30s and wearing a baseball cap and casual clothing.

The man was in the company of a young girl, believed to be aged between seven and 11-years-old, who had shoulder-length brown hair. She was walking with a black short-haired cross-bred dog on a lead.

Anyone with information about the incident, which happened at about 1pm on October 12, is asked to contact Pc Paul Kilgannon at Harwich police station on 101.
