Trick or treaters ok after encounter with pit bull on Halloween

ARKANSAS -- Four trick-or-treaters suffered minor injuries after being chased by a pit bull Halloween night in the area of 9900 Echo Valley Court in Little Rock.

Parents of the children called police saying their children had been attacked and bitten by the dog, as they went door to door celebrating the holiday.

MEMS was called and attended to the children at the scene. MEMS personnel told police it appeared the children's injuries were from falling on concrete while trying to get away from the dog, and not from a dog bite.

[Many cities and counties have laws that say if someone is injured as a result of an aggressive dog chasing or scaring them, the dog can be declared vicious/dangerous. The kids would not have been injured if this dog had been securely confined to its owner's property.]

I don't care if the dog is acting 'nice' right now. If it chased my child, knocked
her down, causing injury and scared the life out of her, I would be livid.

The dog's owner, Demetri Blake, was cited for not having his pit bull on a leash, and for not having the dog registered. The pit bull was taken by animal control for quarantine purposes.
