ARIZONA -- A 6-year-old girl is recovering after being attacked by a Rottweiler at a Gilbert dog park Thursday morning, according to police.
It occurred at Cosmo Dog Park on Ray Road near Loop 202.
Police said the child was in a fenced-in dog run area with her mother when the dog bit her in the arms and legs.
She was reportedly taken to Cardon Children's Medical Center in Mesa in stable condition and received stitches.
Police did not say why the dog attacked the girl.
Several people visiting the dog park Thursday night said this is not the first nerve-racking moment at the park.
"There have been a couple times when it's just gotten a little hairy," one visitor said. "Not enough supervision and a little bit too much chaos and, you know, there have been some close situations."
The Rottweiler is up-to-date on vaccinations, according to its owner, but will be quarantined at home for 10 days.
