Dog shot, killed after biting two people in Orange County

FLORIDA -- The owner of a pit bull was forced to fatally shoot the dog after it bit him and his adult son in Orange County early Thursday evening.

Officials said the pit bull and another dog were fighting at a home on Forsyth Road around 5:30 p.m. when the pit bull's owner tried to break up the fight.

According to authorities, both the owner and his son were bitten when they tried to separate the dogs.

The owner's wife armed herself and attempted to shoot the dog, but was unsuccessful, deputies said.

That's when the owner opened fire on the dog, killing it.

Officials said the men had to be taken to a hospital for treatment. It's unclear how severe their injuries are.

Orange County Animal Services is investigating the incident.
