OHIO -- On Feb. 15, Lorain police responded to 1131 Highland Park about 8:15 p.m. because a man said his daughter was bitten by a pit bull.
The man told police the dog, which lived at 1136 Highland Park, charged his daughter while she was walking down the sidewalk. According to the police report, the man told police the same dog bit him last year.
As police approached 1136 Highland Park, they observed the dog near the back of the house by a parked car. The dog charged two officers, according to the police report, and one of them shot it.
The same officer then shot the dog a second time, killing it, because it was yelping and in pain.
The homeowner of 1136 Highland Park told police the dog lived in her garage and she has been caring for it because its owner is in jail.
She was issued a summons for dog-at-large and annual registration of dog tags required.
