Siberian Husky mauls 3-month-old baby in Ohio

OHIO -- An infant, identified Thursday as Daniel Sullivan, continued his recovery after he was attacked by a dog in Union Township Wednesday afternoon.

The boy's babysitter called 911 at about 2 p.m., and said the 3-month-old was "mauled by a dog," as reported by Chief Terry Zinser of the Union Township Police Department. The attack happened in the 4500 block of Schoolhouse Road.

WCPO reporter Amy Wadas spoke with the family friend who was babysitting Sullivan at his home when the attack happened. His 2-year-old Siberian Husky, Rocky, was in the home during the day. Unexpectedly, the dog lashed out.

Sullivan was flown to Children's Hospital with minor injuries. His parents left work and arrived there shortly after, and learned their baby would be okay.

The family friend has four children and now worries about their safety around the dog. He said
Rocky has always been a great pet, but they would take necessary procedures with the dog. He gave no detail on what that would involve.

A neighbor said Rocky has always been sweet and friendly. She has two kids of her own, and and has never been concerned about Rocky being around the kids.

Donald Morgan lives a few doors down from the home, and owns a 12-year-old Jack Russell Terrier.
He saw Rocky Wednesday morning.

"I observed the dog in the yard running in the front and back yard," Morgan said. "Then it acted strange this morning."

He said Rocky looked agitated, not like his normal behavior.

Morgan's dog spends time with his small grandchildren, but he said he keeps an eye on the dog.

"I don't think I'd want a dog that size around small children," Morgan said of Rocky.
