WISCONSIN -- A Sheboygan police officer was hospitalized Friday night after he was attacked by a pit bull on the city’s south side.
The attack occurred just after 7 p.m. as the officer was speaking with a citizen on the sidewalk in front of a home at 511 S. 14th St., Sgt. Mike Stelter said in a news release.
The dog came out the front door and charged the officer, Stelter said in the release.
The officer reported injuries to his abdomen and right leg and was transported to Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
The dog was taken to the Sheboygan County Humane Society, pending further investigation.
